THE STORY OF

YORUYA IZAKAYA

Yoruya Izakaya began with a simple idea from Lawrence Lim— that some of the most memorable moments in life happen around a table not because the occasion was grand, or everything was carefully planned, is because the right atmosphere somehow made everyone forget about time.

That feeling has long lived at the heart of Japanese izakaya culture. An izakaya was never meant to be a place to sit down, order a meal and leave. It was a place where people come together after a long day to unwind. Small dishes would arrive one after another, sake would be poured and shared, and conversations would move effortlessly from one story to the next. What began as a simple drink could turn into an entire evening, and what started as dinner could become a memory carried home.

When he imagined Yoruya Izakaya he wanted to preserve that same sense of warmth and togetherness while giving it a place of its own. A space inspired by the traditions of Japanese dining, yet made for the way we gather.

And perhaps that is what an izakaya has always been about.

At Yoruya Izakaya every conversation that lingers becomes part of something larger than the meal itself. Some nights will be celebrations. Some will be reunions. Others may simply be an ordinary evening after a long day. But sometimes, those ordinary nights become the ones we remember most.

The story of Yoruya Izakaya begins here. And tonight, the next chapter begins at your table.

— Lawrence Lim

"An izakaya should feel like someone kept a seat warm for you. Everything after that — the fish, the fire, the sake — is just craft."
